March 10, 2014 (Mesa, AZ) – The Chicago Cubs opened the season to a sold-out crowd at their new spring training facility in Mesa, AZ on February 27th, Ovations Food Services, the exclusive food and beverage service provider at the new facility, worked closely with the team during pre-and-post construction to design world-class catering and concession areas. Strategically installing cooking equipment and implementing one-of-a-kind concepts has allowed Ovations to fully execute their Everything’s Fresh™ program, and the fans can taste the difference. Ovations is a subsidiary of the Philadelphia-based sports and entertainment firm Comcast-Spectacor.

A large focus on local favorites from both Arizona and Chicago provides guests over 100 options served throughout the ballpark’s 6 concession stands, 23 portable carts, 6 local subcontractor carts, 6 suites and 3 party decks. Custom concepts include Taste of Chicago™, Windy City Dog™, The Show™, On Deck™, Eighteen 76™, Mesa Tortilla Flats™, Rendezvous Grill™, and Burger Prime™. During the first week of operations fans have been raving about the variety of hot dogs and sausages like the Chicago Dog found at Taste of Chicago™, On Deck™ and Eighteen 76™, topped with onions, tomatoes, sports peppers, green relish, mustard and a pickle spear; as well as the Italian Beef Sandwich served with hot peppers and the Italian Combo featuring fresh Italian beef with split Italian sausage at Taste of Chicago™. Fans can also be found cooling off at Dos Gringos, serving-up frozen Daiquiris and Margaritas.

“We value our long standing relationship with the residents of Arizona and Chicago and appreciate the opportunity to work closely with the Cubs management team to deliver unique concepts for ballpark-goers,” said Jay Satenspiel, Ovations’ Regional Vice President. “Opening this new ballpark was a team effort and we are thrilled to see guests enjoy our collaborative project.”

Ovations was also honored to host the prestigious annual Cactus League lunch at the new ballpark prior to opening day. Guests of teams around the country attended this action-station style lunch serving local dishes representing each team in attendance.

With a decade of experience in the Arizona marketplace, operating at Hohokam Stadium, the Cubs previous spring training facility, as well as Goodyear Ballpark, Salt River Fields at Talking Stick, the Mesa Convention Center, Wild Horse Pass Casino, the VeeQuiva Casino and Lone Butte Casino, Ovations successfully delivers what Arizona residents demand – fresh food.
