The National Association of Concessionaires (NAC) has announced that Jean Sheerin has been awarded the 2015 President’s Expo Scholarship. The Concession & Hospitality Expo will take place on July 21-24, 2015 at the Hyatt Regency Cincinnati and the adjacent Duke Energy Convention Center. Sheerin is the Deputy Director of Permit, Concessions and Volunteer Resources for Forest Preserves of Cook County in Illinois.

Sheerin says the Expo will help her increase her knowledge and expertise of the concessions industry and help Forest Preserves reach its plans and goals. “I believe the Forest Preserves of Cook County is a fantastic natural resource for all customers that has the potential to be a national leader in best practices in the concessions industry.”

Founded by then-NAC President Maria Angles, ECM, with an initial donation in 2009, the President’s Convention Scholarship Fund was created to provide a scholarship package each year to the NAC Annual Convention. The Fund will continue through donations and proceeds from the NAC Silent Auction and the NAC Run/Walk.

Past recipients of the scholarship include Tara Buck of Classic Cinemas; Mike Scarpino, CCM, of the Calgary Flames; Gary Butske Jr. of Emagine Entertainment; Denise Ferro, CCM, of Phoenix Big Cinemas; Jeff Hanauer, CCM, of Ovations Food Service and Steven Lew, CCM, of New Orleans City Park. The scholarship package includes full registration to the NAC Annual Convention, three nights’ hotel accommodations and a travel stipend.
