Malco Theatres Acquires Movies 9
Memphis, TN – Friday, January 3, 2014- Malco Theatres has acquired the 9-screen Movies 9 Theatre in Winchester, Kentucky from previous owner Bluegrass Theaters.
The cinema, located at 40 Winchester Plaza has been reopened as the Malco Winchester Cinema, and will undergo extensive renovations and upgrades over the next few months. These changes will include a full conversion to digital cinema with Dolby stereo 7.1 surround sound, 3D movies and larger wall-to-wall screens, a lobby and concession remodel, as well as plush rocking chair comfort. Additional amenities such as reloadable gift cards, group discounts (select days and times), corporate rentals and worship space will also be available. For added customer convenience, future lobby kiosks will allow for online/advance ticketing redemption, so patrons can “skip the box office line”.
“Malco is making a significant financial investment in Winchester and we believe the new state of art cinema will provide a first class movie going experience for the community to enjoy for many decades to come,” said Jimmy Tashie, Executive VP of Theatre Operations.
Malco recently opened the Olive Branch Cinema in Olive Branch, Mississippi and completed the renovations of both the Ridgeway Cinema Grill (Memphis, TN) and Forest Hill Cinema (Germantown, TN). Additional locations are slated to open in Gonzales, LA; Millington, TN; and Jackson, TN, along with several unannounced locations.
Memphis, TN-based Malco Theatres is a fourth-generation family owned and operated business that will reach its 100th anniversary in 2015. Malco Theatres operates over 330 screens at 32 locations across the Mid-South, as well as bowling and family entertainment centers in Louisiana.
