Happy Holidays from the National Association of Concessionaires (NAC)! As we spend time with family, friends and colleagues, let’s take a few steps back and review 2021 and look forward to what we hope is a more normalized 2022.
We started the year with our businesses opening up and capacities increasing. The Spring Season brought new hope as outdoor parks and facilities opened, large and small sporting venues blossomed and new films started to be released in theatres. And while the trajectory looked promising, labor and supply chain issues soon reminded us that none of this was going to be easy. As an association, we continued to get together via our Zoom call series, The NAC Check-In Chat, although not as often as the year before.
With many major conventions and conferences pushing events back to late summer and early fall, our industry was no exception. We were able to get back together again at CinemaCon in late August. The event served as a jumping off point and exceeded even the most conservative of expectations. It was good to see each other again, and we had plans to make and business to discuss. The NAC 2021 Concession and Hospitality Expo was held in Dallas in late October and provided a unique backdrop to recalibrate the concessions business in 2021. It featured speakers, social events, a trade show and large contingent of newly certified CCMs proving that education is still at the heart of NAC.
We all know that Pandemic issues are once again starting to flare as we turn the calendar, but we begin 2022 with a fresh slate. Look for our Check-In Chat series to commence in January. Plans are being made for the NAC program at CinemaCon, April 25-28 at Caesars Palace and to once again hold the NAC Charity Golf Event on the first day. Our very own NAC Concession and Hospitality Expo on July 26-29 at Hilton Orlando Lake Buena Vista returns to its original format and promises to be a big event in the Magic Kingdom. Details for these events will all be circulating shortly.
And remember we are more than just meetings and events. Everyday resources are always at your disposal such as naconline.org, NAC social media channels, our weekly e-newsletter, the Regional Seminar Series, NAC Industry Certification Programs, complimentary Job and RFP listings, and an active Government Relations and Advocacy program to name just a few. NAC is here for you both now and in the future!
