Title: Assistant Food and Beverage Supervisor
Location: La Crosse Center

Purpose of Position
The purpose of this position is to provide daily oversight of the food and beverage operations and personnel for the La Crosse Center. The work is performed under the direction of the Food and Beverage Manager.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.

Oversees events and directs concession and catering operations. Prepares weekly schedule for upcoming events.

Responsible for food and liquor inventory and ordering.

Interviews and trains personnel. Allocates personnel, assigns tasks and reviews work. Recommends and participates in employee discipline and discharge.

Supervises catered events including preparing and serving.

Prepares event revenue and other reports and correspondence.

May coordinate the selling of novelty items on behalf of promoter and ensures Center receives appropriate percentage of sales.

Maintains knowledge of rules and regulations regarding concessions operations including all alcohol laws and licenses.

Assumes additional supervisory responsibilities in the absence of the Food and Beverage Manager.

Maintains confidentiality of proprietary information and employee personnel and medical information.

Maintains regular and predictable on-site attendance.

Additional Tasks and Responsibilities

While the following tasks are necessary for the work of the unit, they are not an essential part of the purpose of this position and may also be performed by other unit members.

Prepares and delivers deposits.

Review and approve payroll entries for staff, including tips and gratuities as needed.

Ensure POS System and other technologies are functioning properly.

Must be able to work variable shifts including days, nights, weekends and holidays as needed.

Minimum Training and Experience Required to Perform Essential Job Functions

Associate degree in Food Management and a minimum of 2 years restaurant or bar management experience; or any combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills and abilities. Must be proficient on computers. Bartender’s license required. Food Management Certificate preferred.

Ability to utilize a variety of advisory data and information such as invoices, billing statements, revenue reports, job applications, time sheets, personnel policies, payroll reports, audit reports, event summaries, equipment operating manuals, computer software operating manual, health regulations, liquor regulations, procedures, guidelines and non-routine correspondence.

Ability to communicate orally and in writing with customers, employees, event planners, vendor representatives and management personnel.

Mathematical Ability

Ability to calculate percentages, fractions, decimals, volumes, present values and ratios. Ability to interpret basic descriptive statistical reports.

Judgment and Situational Reasoning Ability

Ability to use functional reasoning and apply rational judgment in performing diversified work activities.

Ability to exercise the judgment, decisiveness and creativity required in situations involving the evaluation of information against sensory and/or judgmental criteria, as opposed to criteria which are clearly measurable.
Assistant Food and Beverage Supervisor

Physical Requirements

Ability to operate equipment and machinery requiring simple, periodic adjustments such as food and beverage serving equipment. Ability to move and guide material using simple tools.

Ability to coordinate eyes, hands, feet and limbs in performing movements requiring moderate skill, such as mixing.

Ability to exert light to moderate physical effort in sedentary to moderate work, typically involving some combination of stooping, kneeling, crouching and crawling, lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling.

Ability to recognize and identify degrees of similarities or differences between characteristics of colors, shapes, sounds, tastes, odors and textures associated with job-related objects, materials and tasks.

Environmental Adaptability

Ability to work under generally safe and comfortable conditions where exposure to environmental factors such as irate individuals, intimidation, temperature variations or extremes, noise, odors, toxic agents, electrical currents discomfort and poses a limited risk of injury.
