Regal sets opening date for Winrock IMAX theater

Construction is in its final stages at the state’s first commercial IMAX theater at Winrock Town Center in Albuquerque.

The Regal Cinemas 16-screen, 3,000-seat complex is set to open Nov. 8.

Colette Wharton, asset manager for Winrock, said the opening will take place after a week’s worth of promotional events beginning Nov. 4. She said Regal Entertainment Group officials would announce the events in the coming weeks. Regal Entertainment is the operator of Regal Cinemas, United Artists and Edwards Theatres.

The theater, located on the southeast corner of Winrock, features a 50-foot IMAX screen. The complex is about 73,000 square feet.
