Malco Theatres Sikeston Cinema & Grill to Open Thursday

| June 7, 2016

Malco Theatres is pleased to announce the June 9, 2016 opening of the new Malco Sikeston Cinema & Grill in Sikeston, Missouri. The cinema, located at 1218 Cinema Drive off Hwy 60 and Hennings Road in the Cotton Ridge Development, is the chain’s newest location in the SEMO area.

The Sikeston Cinema & Grill will sport 8 all-stadium-seating auditoriums with luxurious premium seats, state-of-the-art Dolby 7.1 digital surround sound & 3D projection and wall-to-wall curved screens, including a 40ft large-format Clarus® screen. Malco’s signature upscale lobby will showcase a sleek and modern cinema lounge, complete with ample space for guests to enjoy a casual meal or meet friends prior to a show.

While the expanded concession menu is set to include traditional movie theatre snacks of fresh-popped popcorn, candy, nachos and pretzels, the new Cinema Grill concept will offer delicious handmade burgers, grilled chicken sandwiches, hand-battered corn dogs, chicken tenders, French Fries and more! Also, the new Sikeston Cinema & Grill is the first Malco location to offer a self-serve Coca-Cola fountain, providing guests the benefit of a “personal pour experience” at the concession stand! Additional theatre amenities include a party room, game room, reloadable gift cards, birthday parties, group discounts (select days and times), corporate rentals and worship space. As an added service, lobby kiosks will allow for online/advance ticketing redemption, so patrons can “skip the box office line”.

In an effort to increase eco-consciousness and reduce the carbon footprint, Malco has installed all LED light bulbs and implemented a fully automated energy management system. With movies being presented digitally, content deliveries will be mainly via satellite and any other films would be provided on smaller digital drives, thus resulting in far less packaging and harm to the environment.

“Malco is very excited about the opening of our new, state-of-the-art cinema in Sikeston, Missouri. We’d like to acknowledge and add a special thank you to the city leaders of Sikeston, to Mike Bohannon with Cotton Ridge Development and especially Gaylon Lawrence, for their assistance in making this project become a reality for all of us. Our wish is for this theatre to become a place for everyone in the community and surrounding areas to enjoy and be proud to have as part of the landscape”, said Jimmy Tashie, Executive VP of Theatre Operations.

The Sikeston Regional Chamber of Commerce is set to host the grand opening ribbon-cutting Thursday, June 9 at 1:00pm (cst). Moviegoers are encouraged to purchase tickets in advance online at or via the free Malco app, which can be downloaded from iTunes and Google Play.

Malco Theatres currently operates the Malco Sikeston Trio, which will remain open after the new Sikeston Cinema & Grill opens.

Malco recently opened new locations in Gonzales, Louisiana and Olive Branch, Mississippi, plus completed renovations of the Winchester Cinema in Winchester, KY, the Ridgeway Cinema Grill (formerly the Ridgeway Four Cinema) in Memphis and the Forest Hill Cinema in Germantown, Tennessee. Upcoming projects include Millington, TN; and Jackson, TN, along with several unannounced locations.
